Situated at the convergence of the Mississippi and Rum Rivers, Anoka is a moderately sized town on the northwestern outskirts of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area. The two rivers give Anoka an incredibly lush natural setting, making it a great area for golf and outdoor recreation. A number of city-run parks provide many ways to enjoy the outdoors, from shaded walking trails at the Rum River Nature Area to outdoor waterslides at the Anoka Aquatic Center in George Green Park. Main Street is the town's shopping hub, filled with unique shops and cultural experiences like performances at the Lyric Arts Main Street Stage and the museum run by the Anoka County Historical Society.
